How to Setup Cart Price Rules in Magento 2

Today, we’re going to teach you guys how to setup cart price rules in Magento 2.

With Magento 2 platform, you can easily create a promotion program with discounts by setting up cart price rules and encourage your customers to buy more. 

What is Cart Price Rule in Magento 2?

Cart price rule is basically a special rule with conditions that you can define in the configuration to let customers purchase certain products at a discounted price.

In simple words, you can create a coupon code from the Magento configuration and your customers can insert the code to apply the discount at the checkout page. 

And in this tutorial, we will show you how to create such discount codes by setting up the cart price rules in Magento 2.

Steps to Setup Cart Price Rule in Magento 2

To create shopping cart price rules in your Magento 2 store, please perform the following steps.

Step #1 – Create a New Cart Price Rule

First of all, login to your admin panel and navigate to Marketing > Promotions > Cart Price Rule as shown in the screenshot below.

Now, click on the Add New Rule button fill the given 4 tabs – Rule Information, Conditions, Actions, Label.

Next, go to the General Information section and write Name for your new cart price rule.

After that, enable the rule once its status turns to Active.

Then, assign the rule to the store view and customer group.

Now, enable to apply the rule with the coupon by choosing a Specific Coupon option on the Coupon field.

Next, limit the usage of the coupon in the User Per Coupon and User per Customer fields or leave them empty if you don’t want to apply any limitation.

Lastly, you can also include the rule in RSS Feeds by simply selecting Yes in the Public in RSS Feed option.

Step #2 – Set Conditions

In the Conditions tab, click on the ALL link, all and any options are available. 

Then, click on the TRUE link, TRUE and FALSE options are available.

You can leave these conditions blank if you want to apply the cart price rule to all products.

After that, click on the Add icon to set conditions for your new cart price rule:

  • Product attribute combination
  • Product subsection
  • Conditions combinations
  • Cart attribute

Now, continue clicking the Add icon and follow the above steps again to add multiple conditions to your new cart price rule.

Step #3 – Set Actions

Here, you’ll need to assign specific actions to execute when customers meet all conditions.

As shown in the above screenshot, select the Actions tab from the left panel of the New Catalog Price Rule page.

Now, in the Apply field, select any one option from below:

  • Fixed amount discount
  • Fixed amount discount for entire cart
  • Percent of product price discount
  • Buy X Get Y Free

Lastly, enter your desired number in the Discount Amount field.

Step #4 – Set Labels

Go to the Labels tab.

Then, under the Default Label section, write a text in the Default Rule Label for All Store Views.

Alternatively, you can also set different labels for each store view. 

For this, go to Store View Specific Labels, and set the label for each store view.

Now, if your Magento store supports multiple languages, you can also do label translation for each store view.

Step #5 – Apply the Rule

Finally, click on the Save Rule to finish the process.

Before making the rule live, make sure that it works properly. Also, it will take about an hour for the new rule to be available.
